May 16,2019

With the digital medium taking a boom in all the industries, AR and VR has a special place to accommodate in them. Considered to have a global value of over $3.33 billion in 2015 and is expected to reach approximately $133.78 billion in 2021, the tech is growing at a CAGR of slightly above 85.2% between 2016 and 2021. Considering the above factuals anyone could say AR and VR Industry as one good investment anyone could account to. So in this write up we could see the various scopes in VR and AR in the coming years.

Manufacturing

Transforming the way of designing to a whole new level, it wouldn't be much if we say the future of Design Engineering is with VR and AR. The Computer Aided Manufacturing Process with Virtual Reality would allow you to pre-visualize the potential chances of failures with the working of the particular part or system. Not just for checking the potential chances of failure, but the design can be instigated right from the beginning as the design is kick started from the phase of idea to setting up the measurement of the parts and ensuring the durability of them. And with Augmented reality in the design field, the range of designing is extended to way out to a whole new standard, in a better way to understand the depth of AR in the industry we can refer to Smart Augmented Reality Tool (SART) offered by Testia, a subsidiary of Airbus, which developed the aircraft structure manufacturer, Spirit AeroSystems. The SART system enables the Spirit’s inspection team to create a digital model of the actual components and restructure according to the necessity, popularly known as Mixed Augmented Reality (MAR), the digital models are combined with real images to detect deviations.

AR in Marketing & Advertising

Mastering the craft of surgeries and study over the human analogy with AR and VR is the next big thing happening in the healthcare field. The manipulation of the virtual surgeries for the Med students near to realism will bring about a huge impact over the education field as they would bring a clear perspective of the human body and gives an indepth understanding over it. The Microsoft HoloLens is the first AR headset that creates holograms of digital content within a real-world environment. With a price of $3,000 (£2,300), consumer take-up has been slow but it is already being adopted in healthcare as it brings up the realistic image of a brain or heart in a classroom and allows you to rotate, enlarge take apart and examine in-depth in front of their eyes.

Growth of VR and AR

Keeping track of the growth of AR and VR in the last few years it is found in 2016, reports projected VR sales to rise to more than 45.6 million devices sold in 2020. And referring Register, Q1 2018 only saw 1.2 million VR devices sold that does not pace well with early projections for 2020. While we predict that AR will soon come to surpass VR in mass adoption, the blend of both AR and VR could bring about massive benefits to both businesses and consumers in the near future.
